8/31/09 - Monday

Shirt: GAP / Belt: GAP / Pants: Dockers - RIP (literally, as well as figuratively)



Disaster struck today.

Of epic proportions, lol.

My pants ripped. Yes ripped at the seams. It wasn't a small rip either It was revealing enough that innocent bystanders would have been able to see the color/brand/texture of my undergarments had I not noticed it first. The fallout would have been devastating, I'm sure.

I guess I could have conveniently left this story out, changed pants and posted pics of my new outfit, but I want to use this as an opportunity for you to learn from my misfortune. What caused the tear I really don't know, but towards the end of the day I started to feel an unwelcome "draft" and knew what time it was. I grabbed a stapler (hey I had to get resourceful) and then proceeded to literally back my way to the office restroom (insert played prison joke here). The staple-job didn't quite work out so I ended up wrapping a sweater around my waist and strolling out of the office.

Moral of the story: As much as you try to avoid them, wardrobe malfunctions can strike at anytime to anyone. And just like in business (and life in general), resourcefulness can almost always get you out of such uncomfortable situations.

* Let us please have a moment of silence for the slacks that fell (or tore) during their tour of duty which, up until then, had served admiringly in protecting co-workers from seeing my drawers.

Switched it up today and went casual. Might as well enjoy the "casual summer-wear" movement while it lasts. Note that for casual corporate wear one generally wants to don clothes that (a) fit and (b) are somewhat modest as far as logos/patterns are concerned.






* Fashion gurus would probably suggest that your watchband color match your belt/shoes.

The more times I wear this tie the more I like it. Originally pared it with a light blue shirt and dark pants. It complements the shirt I wore today well, imo.

The office has now implemented a casual summer wear attire policy, which basically means ties are now optional. I'll be honest and admit though: ties really enhance the aesthetics of an outfit, but they are on the other hand, very restrictive!

Going forward I'll try to mix in ties every now and then, but I won't make any promises.

6/08/09 - Monday

Got two more old Navy ties over the weekend. Both fall more into the casual wear category but I decided to wear them to work this week. Unless you work at the corporate offices of John Deere, the tie worn today should probably only be worn during the holiday season.

Here’s a tie I initially purchased to function as a casual going-out tie. Ended up working it into the work rotation, however. I think I got this at Wal-mart for under $10. Very versatile and can go with many different looks.





Bonus: Hat I picked up. So bomb...

Memorial Day Weekend keeps calling my name...

Selected a shirt from the weekend rotation, threw on a pair of khakis, jumped into the 7 and mashed out to the office.

I like the shirt, the collars not so much, as they like curling up on their own. Any tips on how to keep them down would be greatly appreciated :-)

Paired a shirt with a "busy" design pattern to a solid tie, the opposite of what I did Monday. Love the shirt, don't think I paid more than $15 for it. Gets lots of compliments. Not sure if I like the pants I decided wear though. I'll go with a darker hue next time.

* Come to think of it one of the great things about this blog is that it brings up things I otherwise would not have noticed. For example, I never realized that the shirt and pants were made by the same brand. Might have to look out for similar products in the future...

Decided to support the "no belts" movement today. I actually "forgot" to wear them prior to leaving for work. This, by the way, is why I "hate" new surroundings, it throws my routine off, lol.

I did manage to provide my friends with ample smack(talk)-material, however. Hey, anything I can do make them feel like they are next coming of Russell Peters, I guess.

The DKNY tie came off of the bench and provided another solid performance. This tie is turning out to be solid role player. And to think I picked it off of waivers (i.e. Ross) for less than $10...

Repeat offender! Outfit similar to the one assembled on 03/24/09. Keen eyes will however notice that the pants are a lighter khaki this time around. After looking at the two I would have to say that I prefer the dark olive-colored pants over the light khaki ones.

Just noticed that I wore two Arrow brand shirts in a row. These hand-me downs from pops should qualify for AARP benefits. They have all held up well though.

4/10/09 - Friday

The streak finally ended! That's right, I never took a pic of what I wore on Friday. For those who aren't in the know, I take pictures of what I'm wearing the day of (and then comment on them later on).

Yeah I know I deserve physical reprimands from my loyal readership. Of course you knew that. The positive thing that we can draw from this ultimately, is that I was able to recreate the 'fit as it wasn't that hard to remember what I wore.

Ok, less gabbing, more describing... I got the shirt for a ridiculously low price a Tanger outlet shopping center just northeast of Atlanta, GA. Paid around $4-5 for it. Nutty. If I weren't going through some tough personal issues that day I probably would have bought a lot more. I put myself on a voluntary spending freeze when I'm in a bad mood b/c I feel that I end up making unnecessary purchases made when I'm in this state of mind. Anyway, I like the shirt. Usually wear it in casual settings but decided to break it out for the office, just to keep the co-works on their toes.

- Another average outfit. I feel like it gives off a retro vibe for reasons unbeknownst to me. This is probably due to the tie. Got it from my dad and i must admit that I haven't worn it in forever.

The socks are fire. Got them on sale at Banana Republic. The material feels great although I'm not buying the "6-12" sizing on these. I have size 11.5 feet and I feel like if I had to engage in a sudden move like say, pivot away from a co-worker next to the copier or spin off of the lady about to spill her cup of coffee my toes would bust through the front portion of the socks.
