Shirt: H&M shirt / Belt: Express / Pants: Dockers Collection pants



Memorial Day Weekend keeps calling my name...

Selected a shirt from the weekend rotation, threw on a pair of khakis, jumped into the 7 and mashed out to the office.

I like the shirt, the collars not so much, as they like curling up on their own. Any tips on how to keep them down would be greatly appreciated :-)

Shirt: Arrow / Tie: Hardy Amies / Belt: GAP / Pants: Perry Ellis



This outfit is similar to one worn a few weeks back... Note that the pants and belt are different ...

Due to the “busy” nature in terms of patterns and colors, I usually only pair two of my ties with this shirt: a grey one or the bark blue tie I chose to wear today. I might go with a plain black tie in the future.

5/20/09 - Wednesday

Shirt: Ralph Lauren / Tie: Pierre Cardin / Belt: GAP/ Pants: Perry Ellis



Patterned pants + plain, non-patterned shirt (and vice versa) is the way to go if you aren’t trying to ruffle corporate feathers.

The gray squares on the tie end up looking like they are light blue from a afar. Great if you are say, wearing a light blue shirt. This Ralph Lauren button-down shirt has served me well, great quality/material, I would highly recommend getting a shirt or two when they are on sale.

Wearing a light blue quadrille pattern shirt with a yellow tie? It sounded sort of funky at first thought, however after extensive consultation in the review booth it was deemed an acceptable combination. The light blue accents on the tie certainly helped. Looking back at it the only thing I would change are the pants. They are pretty thin. I think I’m going to pair them strictly with linen shirts from now on. Oh and I need to start adding the belt (Express) into the rotation more often.

5/18/09 - Monday

Shirt: Izod / Tie: Barneys / Belt: GAP/ Pants: Michael Brandon



This outfit was thrown together rather hastily. This tends to happen when sleep receives priority on any given morning ;-) Anyway, when you don’t have much time to put an outfit together, you look for staples that will always work. In the corporate world that would be either black or khaki slacks and the obligatory light blue dress shirt. How did this color become the defacto hue for corporate goons, anyway? Why not light yellow or light green? I digress. The aforementioned pants/shirt combo can never go wrong, pair it with a dark/bold tie and you are (usually) good to go.

More on the outfit:

The ever so reliable black slacks were called to duty again. These are the pants you go to in the fourth quarter, when you have to rely on your starters to produce. The outfit is pretty cheap as I got both the pants and shirt from Ross. I got the tie (Barneys -New York) from a co-worker. It ends up being a good thing because I don’t think I would have bought it on my own. Not that it necessarily looks bad; I just would not have gone out and purchased it on my own. Quality is top notch though. The material is 100% silk, hand made in Italy. I'll take more such freebies in future, thank-you much...

Shirt: Company polo / Belt: GAP/ Pants: J. Crew



These pants look great, they unfortunately don't fit well at all.

Company polo is unfortunately way too big. How big? Lets just say if I had to jump out of a plane I'd float down to safety with the rest of the passengers clutching on to me. nh. At least I know that I'll be able to wear it decades from now.

You don't always have to color-coordinate your outfits, especially if you use colors that complement each other well. Purple and blue tend to pair well together.

5/13/09 - Wednesday

Shirt: Michael Brandon / Tie: Puritan / Belt: GAP/ Pants: Dockers Collection



Paired a shirt with a "busy" design pattern to a solid tie, the opposite of what I did Monday. Love the shirt, don't think I paid more than $15 for it. Gets lots of compliments. Not sure if I like the pants I decided wear though. I'll go with a darker hue next time.

* Come to think of it one of the great things about this blog is that it brings up things I otherwise would not have noticed. For example, I never realized that the shirt and pants were made by the same brand. Might have to look out for similar products in the future...

Average outfit. Haven't worn these pants in a while. The pinstripes are a bit too bold for my liking, I almost expected coworkers to address me as Gordan, please say the "Gecko" Douglas.

Really like this get-up, especially the tie.

Tie selection is really important when you go with a white shirt as eyes will generally focus the piece of cloth draped around your neck.
